LAUNDRETTE EDITORIAL WITH PETE BURKILL - BEHIND THE SCENES
Earlier this week, we had a very exciting photoshoot for the blog, together with our April guest blogger Pete Burkill. The location for this shoot was a very retro looking laundrette, which can't have changed at all since the 60's :P Such a great spot for photographs!
The shoot was split into two looks, which together will make a nice story. The 1st part and look was the 'getting ready' look. We all had curlers etc left in our hair and were 'casually hanging out' in the laundrette, getting ourselves and our clothes ready for a glamours night. The inspiration for this was very much the retro American style with popping colours, simple jeans and t-shirts, with bubblegum and soda as props.
We were all wearing plateau heels and tight jeans, and were laughing at, how very far from the reality this was. Us getting ready is more like 'staying in our old pyjamas or robes to the very last minute - definitely not wearing any bra, tight clothes or high heels! haha :P But our 'getting ready reality' would not have been very suitable for the look we were going for here!
The 2nd part was the 'glam-look' where we had finally gotten ready! For this we were wearing evening gowns, and were given lovely glamoured hair and make up - proper red carpet style :) We will be posting the final results of each part of the shoot, in two different blog posts, over the next couple of weeks - so keep visiting here for updates :)
This laundrette is located in South-West London, close to where Zsanett lives, and she has walked passed this place several times. This was how she got the idea to do a shoot there! However, every time she has walked passed it, there has been next to no people inside - so we just assumed it would be pretty empty.... that was so not the case. At one point I think there was about 15 people in this laundrette, and we were desperately trying to fit around them not getting them in shot - but also not being in their way. Not an easy job at all.
Luckily, most of the laundrettes customers seemed to think this was nice entertainment whilst waiting for their clothes to be finished. Some asked us lots of questions, and were more than happy to lend us their washing powder and softeners as props. One lady however seemed very interested in what we were doing, but were not pleased about the amount of hairspray that was used... bless her, guess we should have sprayed the hair outside ;).
JUST CASUALLY HANGING OUT WITH ALL MY ROLLERS IN....
Busted taking selfies - ups!
We had a fantastic team on board for this shoot, including our guest blogger Pete who was joined by his colleague from HOB, Sophie Sugarman, who runs the hair-blog 'THE MANE STYLE'. Gabor Szantai did the photography, and our makeup was done by the lovely Katriona Kongialis who is opening her very own make up salon up in Yorkshire beginning of May!
Dress Gang is a brand new London based company renting out high end clothes and accessories. We actually went to their launch party about a month ago, and have already done some collaboration with the Dress Gang girls. They lent us 3 amazing hand bags, Gucci, Chloé and a small Chanel <3 We also lent the black Self-Portrait dress that Sara is wearing for her second look. Dress Gang has a 30% DISCOUNT CODE "NEWTODRESSGANG" on at the moment, so it's worth checking out their website for goodies: www.dressgang.com :)
GOT TO GET THAT HAIR LOOKING PERFECT!
