SKIN PREP BEFORE A BEAUTY PHOTOSHOOT
I thought I would write down my little and easy skincare regime and list which products I use to prep my skin. Especially before a beauty shoot, I like to prepare my skin with certain products which you'll find further down. Recently I shot a lovely beauty series (see pictures in this post) with photographer and retoucher Matt Wilson and his make up artist Harvy Raino.
A physical exfoliator is the fastest way to get rid of dead skin cells. as when applying makeup over the dead skin, the surface is uneven. As a result, your skin can appear flaky (mine does especially around the nose) and patchy and even feel rough in texture. I normally use an exfoliator 2-3 times a week to keep my skin looking fresh. By gently exfoliating dry skin cells, the skin will appear to feel smoother and look refreshed as the cells are newer. Regularly exfoliating will also improve the tone of your skin.
I got recommended this gentle `buffing cleanser` by one of my favourite skincare brands Omorovicza. This buffing cleanser is great for all skin types from dry to oily skin. Any exfoliator leaves your skin look fresh, radiant and glowing. This particular one is super gentle to my sensitive skin and leaves my skin soft but not dry. Providing both a physical and enzymatic peel, it balances the skin without stripping it of natural oils.
Recently we received some eye gels by Patchology. I never tried eye gels before but it seems to be a new trend and I have to say, I'm loving the FLASHPATCH® RESTORING NIGHT EYE GELS by Patchology. These hydrogels work in just 5 minutes to restore under-rested eyes. They are easy to apply, supercooling and the whole under-eye area becomes very nicely hydrated. Because of the hydration, fine lines look softer and any puffiness goes down. Afterwards, you just discard them and massage the remaining serum into the skin. It does do wonders!
After exfoliating my skin and using the eye patches I apply a face oil or serum and massage this either with my fingers or with a face roller (find my post about face roller's here) Don't forget to apply to your neck and chest too! Currently, I'm using the Odylique Superfruit concentrate which is a 100% natural oil, with cold-pressed avocado oil, Jojoba oil, Concentrated extracts of Pomegranate, Rosehip, Rosemary and Sea buckthorn fruit. You only need 1-2 drops as I find it quite rich. Last but not least I try and drink 2-3 litres of water every day and I can totally see a difference in my skin if I had less water. xx Annabell
